After phenomenal performances, our Park House English School Secondary School choir was crowned the winner of the prestigious 2024 Qatar School Choir of the Year competition held at Doha College at the beginning of March. This year, the highly competitive contest, launched in 2017, featured 16 choirs from 10 schools in Qatar. Park House was proud to be one of the British curriculum schools in Doha that participated in the competition.
Mrs. Gabriela Nuñez, our Head of Music, expressed her elation, stating, “It was truly rewarding and exciting to see the exemplary efforts and hard work of the group lead to such outstanding performances at the Qatar School Choir of the Year 2024. Being winners in our category (ages 11 – 18) and being crowned the overall champions is a momentous achievement, but the musical understanding, skills and qualities developed along the way are even more valuable in the long run. The choir’s dedication and musicality were amazing during each rehearsal. We are tremendously proud and have gained a lot from this experience, which will serve our choir and young musicians well in their future musical endeavours, and beyond. We also had tonnes of fun!”
She added that it was a privilege to be a part of this amazing learning experience and witness the extraordinary talent showcased during the spectacular performances from the other schools in attendance.

The resounding victory of our choir stands as a shining example of the transformative potential of a holistic education in nurturing talent, fostering discipline, and instilling a lifelong passion for the arts. As champions of the Qatar School Choir of the Year 2024, Park House English School’s choir has not only etched its name in the records of musical excellence but also inspired future generations of musicians to strive for greatness.
This is the second significant triumph for our Music Department, which has excelled under the guidance of Mrs Gabriela Nuñez and Mr Rigel Michelena. Earlier in the year, at the COBIS Music Festival 2024 in Bahrain, our Year 12 student, Lamar, claimed first place in the Solo Vocal Contemporary Upper School category! It is a remarkable way to continue celebrating our rich 30-year history as one of the most respected British schools in Qatar.
