For the third year in a row, we are thrilled to announce that one of our students has won first prize in the annual Qatar British Business Forum (QBBF) Front Cover Design Competition! The winning artwork appears on the front cover of the 2023 QBBF Directory.

Congratulations to Zainab, our Year 8 student, for her outstanding winning design. Zainab shared her design inspiration with us and had this to say, “The fact that Britain is an island and Qatar is a peninsula inspired me with the idea of drawing a beach. The far side shows a silhouette of some of the main landmarks of both Qatar and the UK whereas the sunglasses symbolise their friendship and cultural heritage. It also reflects the cultural pride of many with one side representing their Qatari identity and the other side representing their British identity. My main idea was to show the bond between the two countries while keeping it simple and easy to understand.”

From the other designs we submitted for the competition, we also had Amelia, a Year 10 student, receive a special commendation for her design. We are so proud of the achievements of our students.

Our principal, Mr Smith, commented, “We were pleased to work with QBBF again this year to present an opportunity to showcase the creative talent of our students. Zainab has done an amazing job and I am delighted that her artwork will adorn the cover of this year’s directory.”

We are grateful to our incredible art teachers, Miss Clare McCormick, Head of Art, and Miss Rania Nahdi, for their continuous support and guidance. The Art Department at Park House English School promotes the development and practice of skills that provide visual awareness and conceptual thinking. Although Art can be a challenging and demanding subject, it is also enjoyable and rewarding, and we are happy to celebrate and share our students’ accomplishments and successes when their remarkable talents are recognised.

Zainab and her parents are invited to a celebratory afternoon and prize-giving ceremony with the British Ambassador, Mr Jon Wilkes, and Chairman of QBBF, Mr Emad Turkman, that will take place after Eid Al Fitr.
