SPORTS & PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Park House English School views sports as an integral part of the education of our students.

Park House has a long sporting heritage and continues to provide sporting opportunities for students from Nursery to Year 13. We encourage students to develop a sound, all-round understanding of motor skills, tactics and the etiquette of the sport whilst looking to push themselves to the best of their ability.

Park House has a strong tradition in competitions and has enjoyed recent success across all sports. The school were crowned National U13 BISQ champions in 2020. This was a two-day event involving Year 7 and 8 boys and girls in a number of different sporting events. The Primary School regularly competes in QPPSSA tournaments throughout the year in area format tournaments and our Secondary School participates in QUESS tournaments and league formats which take place across the country.

At Park House English School, we want our students to discover a range of sports that they will enjoy and possibly continue to play in adult life. Our goal is to promote a sustainable healthy and active lifestyle.

We frequently receive feedback from parents saying how impressed they have been by the attitude of our students during matches and competitions. We encourage students who are looking for more opportunities to get involved in community sports and are currently supported in this by Evolution Sports. High-level, competitive opportunities are available in the Doha area, and many of our students have excelled in their preferred sport.

After-school activities are available seasonally throughout the year in various sports, such as football, swimming, basketball, volleyball and netball. These sports are usually aligned with the upcoming competitions and league fixtures which take place throughout the school year and are organised by our outstanding Physical Education department.

Evolution Sports has developed a reputation for delivering a wide range of affordable extra-curricular activities that are both enjoyable and challenging for participants.

At Key Stage 4 IGCSE Physical Education is offered through the Edexcel International Exam board. Students receive a well-rounded and full introduction to the world of PE, practical sport and sport science by developing an understanding of how the mind and body works in relation to performance in physical activity.

At Sixth Form AS and A2 Physical Education is also offered through the Edexcel International Exam board. Students further develop their understanding of how the mind and bodywork in relation to performance in physical sport whilst also engaging them with key issues and themes relating to contemporary global influences on physical education. This equips the students with a good base knowledge should they choose a sports course in further education.
