ADMISSIONS PROCESS

All year groups for the 2018-2019 academic year have limited spaces. Admissions remain open for applications and these will be processed where spaces are available.

Applications for the forthcoming academic year, 2019/2020 are being accepted, however, spaces are becoming limited at Park House English School due to demand.  If you are looking to secure a confirmed space for September 2019/20, please be advised that International Schools Partnership is opening a new Premier school in Qatar; The Hamilton International School Doha, Qatar (THIS). THIS will provide excellent facilities and education to children aged from 3 to 18 years old offering The International (IB) and American (Diploma) curriculum with a focus on Science, sports and performing arts.  During THIS’ first year of operation, they will open until Grade 5.  THIS will organically grow each year to reach Grade 12.

Moving to Doha? Experiencing the ‘which school’ dilemma? Let us help.

We know that choosing your child’s school is one of the most challenging decisions a parent has to make and therefore want to help in any way we can. There is information below and we have a professional team to guide and support you along the admissions process. The admissions team can be contacted at the following email address: admissions@parkhouseschool.com

Park House English School has a transparent admissions policy to ensure all applicants are treated fairly. We welcome children from nursery (3 years+) to Year 13 (age 17-18 years). Park House English School places students in the correct year group in accordance with their age on 1st September. Please use the following table to determine the correct year group for your child.

How To Apply

We are an inclusive school so each application is considered individually. Students will be placed as per their age on 1st September, or according to their transfer certificate if they are joining us from a school inside Qatar. We do not ‘retain’ or ‘accelerate’ students unless there are exceptional circumstances and it is in the child’s absolute best interests.

Admissions Process

Admissions open in December for the following September.

Step 1

Initial Application

Applications must be made through the Apply Now section of our website. We respond to all applicants using the email address provided with the application. Please ensure you key your email address correctly and can receive emails from @parkhouseschool.com

Step 2

Selected applicants may be invited to provide further documentation and payment within 21 days. Only those applicants who have been invited to provide documents will be considered further. Once all the below is received the academic staff will review the application. Being asked for this information does not guarantee a place at Park House English School nor an invitation to undertake an assessment. Initial selection will be from a review of the school reports. Due to the large number of applications received, if your application is unsuccessful following the review we are unable to provide individual feedback.

  • Application fee QR 230.
  • A copy of your child’s final report from the last academic year together with all interim reports issued during the current academic year. The reports must be in English.
  • An age relevant photograph in .jpg format.
  • A copy of the child’s Qatar residence permit (if available).
  • Reports and documentation relating to additional needs (if appropriate).
  • Students applying for a place in Year 11 are required to provide a list of the subjects studied in Year 10 together with the examination board.
Step 3

Waiting List

If your child’s initial application is successful they will be added to the waiting list. Should places become available, all children in the waiting list for the respective year group are considered and selected children will be invited to attend an entrance assessment.

Special Educational Needs

We are unable to offer admission to children who are considered to have learning/behavioural difficulties as the school is unable to offer appropriate levels of support. It is important that full disclosure is made during the application process.

Step 4

Assessments/Interviews

When inviting a child to take an entrance assessment we endeavour to give a minimum of three days notice. Should you decline our invite your application will be removed from the waiting list. We will not reconsider your application in the same academic year. If you wish to be considered for a place in the following academic year you would need to reapply. Early Years children will be invited to attend in small groups, and the assessment will take approximately 30 minutes. The Early Years teacher will consider the child’s:

  • Social skills appropriate to the child’s age
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Level of English language appropriate to age
  • Ability to separate from their parents
  • Readiness to attend the nursery class

Year 1 & Year 2

Students will be assessed for their proficiency in English and mathematics.

Year 3 – Year 11

Students will undertake a cognitive ability test.

Year 12 & Year 13 (Sixth Form)

For all applicants to the Sixth Form, including current Park House students, a minimum of five passes at grade C or above at IGCSE or GCSE is required. These passes must also include English language and mathematics. For those subjects that you wish to study at AS and A level, we would expect that your IGCSE or GCSE grade is a minimum grade B. Places will be offered to students from schools other than Park House English School subject to satisfactory reports and an interview. The offer of a place is conditional on the student achieving the above grades. To confirm acceptance of the place offered we ask students to email the head of sixth form with their results as soon as they have been issued in August. Successful applicants will be offered a place with a start date dependent on availability.

Step 5

Offer of a Place

Successful applicants will receive a formal offer by email. Parents will be asked to provide colour copies of the following documents together with payment within 10 days of the offer to secure the place. After 10 days, the place will be offered to another child and your application will not be reconsidered.

  • Birth Certificate (front and back).
  • Passport sized photograph.
  • Student’s passport front page and information page (must be valid).
  • Qatar ID card for the child and their sponsor.

It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure they apply for the appropriate year group progressing from the child’s current school.
